The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has extended its warmest congratulations to Dr. Obari Gomba, author of the outstanding literary work, “Grit”, for clinching the prestigious 2023 NLNG Nigeria Prize for Literature.

The announcement was made on the night of Friday, October 13, 2023, during an exquisite Award Ceremony held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Obari Gomba’s literary brilliance shone through as his play, “Grit”, triumphed over stiff competition, including notable works like “The Ojuelegba Crossroads” by Abideen Abolaji Ojomu and “Yamtarawala – The Warrior King” by Henry Akubuiro, among 140 other entries. His exceptional storytelling and profound insights captured the hearts of the esteemed panel of judges, securing him the coveted $100,000 literature prize generously sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).

Wole Adedoyin, the President of SYNW, expressed his delight at Gomba’s well-deserved victory, stating, “We are immensely proud of Obari Gomba for this remarkable achievement.
