The maiden edition of Niger Delta International Book and Art Festival (NIBAF 2026) earlier slated for August, has been rescheduled to hold from November 27-28, 2026.
Themed ‘Books, Art and the Niger Delta Heritage: Promoting Knowledge, Protecting Creativity’, NIBAF 2026 would hold at the Arts Theatre, University of Port Harcourt.
NIBAF, a strategic social innovation initiative to stimulate growth, investment and innovation within the book and art sectors, is conceived in broad national context with specific focus on the Niger Delta.
Organized by Book and Art Promotions Concepts in collaboration with the Institute for Arts and Culture, University of Port Harcourt and other stakeholders, the Festival seeks to strengthen existing interventions in the creative ecosystem, expand opportunities for creative professionals, encourage productive partnerships and draw sustained attention to the critical role of copyright and intellectual property protection in building a sustainable creative economy.
It would feature a carefully curated programme of book and art exhibitions, intensive Master Classes on Book Marketing, Intellectual Property, Copyright and Talent Monetization.
Others are creative writing workshops, mentorship sessions, ISBN/ISSN forum, the NIBAF Special Recognition Awards and related activities designed to inspire creativity, stimulate dialogue, reward outstanding legacies and promote sustainable growth across the book and art value chains.
According to the organizers, the choice of Port Harcourt as NIBAF 2026 host city is informed by the need to consolidate the gains of similar initiatives in the Garden City, which made history few years ago as the 2014 UNESCO World Book Capital.
