Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State Nigeria is set to make history as host city of the maiden Niger Delta International Book and Art Festival (NIBAF).

Themed ‘Books, Art and the Niger Delta Heritage: Promoting Knowledge, Protecting Creativity’, the event is slated for August 13 – 15, 2026.

According to Book and Art Promotions Concepts, organisers of the event, NIBAF 2026 is aimed at providing a strategic platform to promote literacy, build new partnerships for sustainable book and art business, foster knowledge on the role of intellectual property as a key driver of the creative economy, and explore new horizons in the documentation of Niger Delta Heritage.

It features book and art exhibitions, creative writing workshops, panel sessions and the NIBAF Merit Awards to honour remarkable contributions to the development of education and art.

It would also feature two Master Classes: (1) ‘Becoming a Successful Authorpreneur: Mastering the Art and Business of Writing, Publishing and Sales’ and (2) Copyright and the Imperatives of Talent Monetization in the Digital Age.

The organizers said that the choice of Port Harcourt as NIBAF 2026 host city is informed by the need to consolidate the gains of similar initiatives in the city which made history few years ago as the 2014 UNESCO World Book Capital. They are expected to release full details of the event in the weeks ahead.
