AudioVisual Rights Society of Nigeria Ltd/Gte. (AVRS) will host its Stakeholders’ Forum for Users and Filmmakers of Audiovisual Works on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Owerri, Imo State.
The Forum will take place at Rento Hotels & Suites, Plot F/27, Housing Area B (along House of Assembly Road), New Owerri, Owerri, Imo State, commencing at 10:00 AM.
The Forum is designed to bring together producers, screenwriters, directors, actors, hoteliers, broadcasters, television stations, restaurants and other users of audiovisual works to deepen understanding of copyright, licensing and the economic value of audiovisual works.
Under the theme “…show ’n’ PAY!”, the Forum will feature an interactive conversational session focusing on audiovisual copyright, licensing obligations, collective management, commercial use of audiovisual works and how value can flow back to creators and rights holders.
The event will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the practical challenges facing both creators and users of audiovisual works and explore ways to build a more transparent, efficient and sustainable licensing ecosystem.
The Forum will feature remarks from the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), the Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA), Imo State Chapter, and top Nollywood filmmakers across the South East.
The Owerri Forum forms part of AVRS’s broader stakeholder engagement initiative, aimed at bringing copyright education, rights administration, and licensing conversations directly to creators and users across Nigeria, to strengthen compliance with copyright obligations.
