The National Executive Council of Amiyi Obilohia Development Union (AODU), Isuikwuato LGA, Abia State, accompanied by representatives of the Traditional Ruler, has paid a Courtesy Call on an illustrious son of Eluama, Isuikwuato, Chief Barr. Reginald I. Iroegbu.
The Courtesy Call which took place at the exquisite Commonwealth Resort, on the sidelines of the Iriji Eluama Celebration on Saturday August 29, 2026, provided an opportunity for the AODU Executives to interact with Chief Iroegbu and appreciate him for facilitating the installation of Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC) solar-powered street lights in Amiyi Obilohia at no cost to AODU and the entire Community.
Speaking during the brief meeting, President-General of AODU, Mazi Osondu Anyado expressed the deepest appreciation of the Union to Chief Iroegbu who honoured his promise with action, installing over 145 NDDC solar-powered street lights in Amiyi Obilohia Community, bringing joy to the people and residents.
According to the PG, “We have come to thank you specially, Chief Iroegbu, for what you have done for our Community, courtesy of the NDDC. This is the first of its kind and history has recorded your contribution, funded by the NDDC, to the development of our Community. When I discussed the project with you, you assured that you would facilitate the installation of the street lights. Your firm assurance emboldened me to announce it to my people, and I was very delighted that shortly after, you followed your promise with action without asking for, or receiving one Kobo from AODU or the Community. Today, to the glory of God, nightlife has become safer and more interesting in Amiyi Obilohia. That is why our people sent us to convey our collective gratitude to the NDDC and your good self. We pray that God will continue to bless and protect you and the entire NDDC Management.”
Also speaking, Ichie Gabriel Iromara, Palace Secretary representing His Royal Majesty, Eze Emeka Ejiofor, Iyi II of Amiyi Obilohia Autonomous Community, thanked Chief Iroegbu and the NDDC on behalf of the Royal Father, assuring that the people of Amiyi Obilohia shall, in due course, honour his goodwill and that of the NDDC in a befitting way.
Responding, Chief Barr. Reginald Iroegbu thanked the AODU delegation for appreciating his modest contribution to community development, emphasizing that credit must be given to NDDC that gave him the opportunity to execute the project, for its drive to light up communities through the installation of solar-powered street lights, enhancing public safety and security and reviving nightlife in several communities. With a sense of humility, he stressed that his loyalty to conscience and respect for ethics takes precedence over pecuniary considerations. While sending his utmost regards to Eze Amiyi Obilohia and the entire people of the Community, Chief Iroegbu who serves as Legal Adviser (I) of Eluama Development Union, expressed happiness that Mazi Anyado and his delegation found time to attend the 2026 Iriji Eluama Celebration, and said he looked forward to the prospects of stronger partnerships in the future.
Members of the AODU delegation, led by the President-General, Mazi Osondu Anyado, included the Deputy President-General, Mazi Onyebuchi Ukasanya, Secretary-General, Comrade Chidi Aguku and the Palace Secretary, Ichie Gabriel Iromara. Others are Ichie Iheme Ukaumune, also from the Palace of Eze Amiyi Obilohia and Engr. Godfrey Amaraegbulam, a respected son of Eluama. They however sent sincere regrets for their imperative absence due to compelling contingencies.
