The 2023 History Series of Association of Communication Scholars and Practitioners of Nigeria (ACSPN), Anambra State Chapter has ended with a call on upcoming media practitioners, Scholars and Practitioners to strive for excellence at all times regardless of the challenges in the profession.
The event, held at the NUJ, Secretariat, Awka, Anambra State with the theme: “Personal Experiences and Insights from Eminent Media Professionals: Lessons Learnt in Building a Successful Career in the Industry” was chaired by the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr Chibueze Oforbike.
The ACSPN History Series which attracted media educators, veteran journalists and students also featured experience sharing by successful journalists and scholars on how they climbed the ropes to get to the top of their profession.
In her welcome address, the State Chairman, Mrs Ify Obi appreciated all who found time to participate in the event which she described as one of the tripartite programmes of the Association aimed at inspiring and motivating younger practitioners by the veterans.
In their separate remarks, the NUJ, Anambra State Council Chairman, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu and the BoT Member of ACSPN, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna charged the student participants and younger professionals to believe in themselves and focused on their goals.
Speaker after speaker at the event harped on the place of hardwork, patience, resilience, and enterprise as key virtues that can lead one to success in the media industry.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the organizing committee Chairman, Dr Gideon Nwafor appreciated the contributions of their sponsors, the participants and their guests for standing by the Association.
Highpoints of the event were award presentations to deserving individuals, including the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo; the Founder, Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor Foundation (CENPOF), Chief Chukwuemeka Orjiakor, as well as the installation of Matronship of ACSPN, Anambra State Chapter to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Paul University, Awka, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna and the Southeast Regional Consultant on Human Capital Development (HCD), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha.
