The full Board of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Nigeria’s biggest copyright collective management organization, this Tuesday, November 6, 2024, rose from a power-packed meeting at the Boardroom of the magnificent COSON House in Ikeja, revelling the continued stability, progress and success of the organization.

One of the many important decisions taken by the meeting was the approval of May 2025 for the hosting of a master-blaster edition of the iconic “COSON WEEK” set of events. The Board directed that every step should be taken immediately to begin the mobilization of all “mobilizables” to ensure that COSON WEEK 2025 is, in every way, unforgettable.

The Board agreed on several measures to be adopted to significantly boost the income to be distributed to the members and affiliates of the society and to protect the abuse of their rights. It also received reports on the different ongoing law suits against infringers of the copyright of COSON members and assignors, across diverse courts in Nigeria.

The Board, once again, expressed pride that COSON remains the only organization in the history of the Nigerian creative industry that has subjected itself not only to full financial audit every year since its inception, but has also gone ahead to subject itself to total forensic audit by one of the best- known auditing firms in the world.

The Board reaffirmed its determination to ensure that COSON remains an agent of strength, unity, progress and growth for the music industry in Nigeria, and an institution that will continue to make transparency and accountability the core elements of its operation.

Present at the meeting presided over by COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji, were Afro Juju Maestro, Sir Shina Peters; Gospel music minister, Kenny Saint Brown; Ace-drummer and producer, Richard Ayodele Cole; Reggae gospel star, Righteousman Erhabor; Producer and TV host, Nimyel Nansel, better known as Zdon Paporella; Vivacious performer and first daughter of the legendry Ras Kimono, Oge Kimono and well-known Enugu based music toaster and publisher, Sir Angus Power Nwangwu.
