The Chamber received SOS from the inhabitants of this area, infact they besieged the residence of the President Chief Jerry O Kalu (Osimiri) for him to use his office as the President of Aba Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA) to reach out to Government for solution.
The President Chief Jerry O Kalu (Osimiri) immediately reached out to SSA to the Governor on Aba Rejuvenation Arch. Uche Ukeje for inspection and that task was achieved without wasting time.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Aba Rejuvenation, Arch. Uche Ukeje, during the inspection tour, promised the residents that he will take what he saw on ground to the Governor, and that he’s convinced that Dr. Otti’s government will make speedy consultations, get other arms of the government involved and respond immediately, to alleviate the sufferings of the resident, adding that Dr. Otti’s administration is a compassionate and listening government, hence will never allow the road to deteriorate further, he will deploy all machinery of the Government to alleviate the sufferings of the people at the area and the users of this all important link road that connects several business routes in the city.
Arch. Ukeje lamented, that the nature by which the road was abandoned, can only happened where there is no government, he promised that the new government of hope under Dr. Alex Otti’s leadership, will review, investigate and make fast resolutions to profer possible solutions to save lives and properties of the people living in the area.
He also hinted that the unscheduled inspection visit was made possible by Chief Jerry O Kalu (Osimiri) President Aba Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA).
In his speech, the President expresses with dismay, the detoriating economic situations in the commercial city, caused by the failed road that linked Ovom Street with Arochulwu Street, Aguwa and Long John Estates, Peoples Road, Akpuru Road, Ngwa Road, and so many business routes to the Ikot Ekpene Road in Aba through the neighboring Akwa Ibom State.
The ACCIMA Boss also said that the project is not what only the Abia State Government can do, and called on the representatives in the affected constituencies in both Red and Green Chambers, to visit the area as a matter of urgency and make presentation in their legislative bills, so that ecological funds can be chanelled to this project so as to save lives and properties of our people.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Landlords and Tenants Association, Sir Christian Nwaigwe called on the local, state and federal governments to come to their rescue, as the devastating rampage of erosion and the dilapidated road, pose serious threats of loss of lives and more properties, as the ravaging disaster has taken over many buildings including churches, factories, shops, farmland, residential and commercial settlements, power feeders, and many vital economic valuables in the area.
