Dr. Veronica Ufoegbune is a proud daughter of Issele-Uku, Delta State Nigeria who has established indelible footprints in human capital development, education and culture preservation at home and in the diaspora, through hard work and dedication to humanitarian service.
Following her undergraduate studies at the University of Benin, Nigeria capped with a Bachelor of Arts (BA), she proceeded to Mills College, California, USA, for her Master of Arts (MA) and later obtained her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policies from Pepperdine University, Malibu Hills, California.
Her distinguished public service credits include serving as a former Commissioner in Alameda County and as an appointee of former California Governor Edmund Brown.
Currently serving as Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Bridgeporte, Dr. Ufoegbune delivers a robust combination of leadership experience, logical strategic vision, and deep management expertise to her role. As a California State education consultant and passionate advocate, she possesses a strong track record of securing and maintaining multiple grants from State, County, City, and local sources. These resources fund her non-profit initiatives throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. She also serves as the Executive Director of a Non-Profit for Early Learning and Care, based in Berkeley, California.
An accomplished academic leader and proud Nigerian-American educator, Dr. Ufoegbune has co-authored numerous publications. Her research includes collaborative work with the Center for Play Research at Mills College in the San Francisco Bay Area. Recently, she also co-authored a book focused on Women in Leadership: Work-Family Integration, and she remains an active member of the Work-Life Integration Project.
She shares her expertise in higher education as an adjunct Professor, serving on the Faculty at both Chabot College and North Eastern University within the San Francisco Bay Area.
Highly respected for her resourceful commitment to Community Service and civic leadership, Dr. Veronica Ufoegbune is the President and Co-Founder of Anioma USA Tribal Association, Inc., a non-profit she has helped to nurture since 1991. She has served as National Chair of 2nd Generation – a Youth Group, and member, Board of Directors, United Nations Association of Northern California in the East Bay.
She has also served as a member, Board of Trustees, Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC) – a 527 political organization committed to elevating the voice, visibility and influence of Nigerian Americans. She equally served as State Chairman of NAPAC California as well as Vice President-2, Oakland California Chinatown Lions Club.
In all her years of exceptional service to humanity from her base in California and other parts of the world, Dr. Veronica Ufoegbune has never been disconnected from her roots in Issele-Uku, Delta State. She has sponsored, supported and participated in various cultural activities, inspiring pride in her heritage and encouraging a robust culture of heritage preservation. One of the few women conferred with a Chieftancy title in Issele-Uku, Dr. Ufoegbune holds the coveted title of Ivie Uge of Issele-Uku Kingdom, and she has consistently honoured her obligations in that regard.
The Executive Council of National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) Delta State Chapter, under the leadership of Thespian Judith Akiri was therefore pleased to honour her with a Distinguished Merit Award for Humanitarian Service during the recently concluded Professor Zulu Sofola Day held on June 22, 2026 at the Oligbo Royal Palace, Issele-Uku, Delta State.
In recognition of her towering social impact across various spheres, particularly education, culture and community development, she was one of the two iconic personalities of Issele-Uku origin conferred with the exclusive Award – the other being His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi, Engr. Nduka Ezeagwuna II, the Obi of Issele-Uku Kingdom.
