Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has expressed sadness at the passing of renowned Nollywood icon, Mr. John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu.
In a statement via his verified X handle (@OfficialBenKalu) on Sunday March 3, 2024, Rt. Hon. Kalu remarked that “Mr. Ibu, with his extraordinary talents and comedic flair, made immense contributions to the entertainment industry, bringing joy and laughter to millions of families.”
Asserting that Mr. Ibu would be profoundly missed by many, Kalu prayed that God would comfort his family and loved ones, and grant his soul eternal rest.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of the iconic Nollywood actor, John Okafor, also known as Mr. Ibu.
“Mr. Ibu, with his extraordinary talents and comedic flair, made immense contributions to the entertainment industry, bringing joy and laughter to millions of families. He will be profoundly missed by all who were touched by his work.
“My heartfelt prayers go out to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. May the Almighty grant them the strength and solace to navigate through their grief.
“May his soul rest in peace, Amen.”
