The Abia State PDP 2023 governorship Candidate, Chief Okey Ahiwe has sent warm birthday felicitations to renowned elder statesman and pioneer Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, CON.
Chief Ahiwe said in his birthday message that Chief Onyema Ugochukwu remains a treasured national asset who, even in formal retirement from public service, has not stopped contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic and political development.
In his words, “De Onyema, as we fondly call him, is a fearless trailblazer whose footprints encapsulate great lessons on the beauty of loyalty to personal conviction. As a young and vibrant economic analyst with the Central Bank of Nigeria, he resigned from what was apparently a blossoming career to pursue his passion in journalism, becoming a globally celebrated wordsmith, social historian and editor of many authoritative journals, including, notably, the London based West Africa Magazine and the Daily Times of Nigeria. He was a great inspiration to aspiring journalists. As Presidential Adviser on National Orientation and Public Affairs, he midwifed the campaign on National Rebirth, aimed at resetting the agenda for national ethos and values. Most remarkably, his period as pioneer Chairman of NDDC witnessed a robust commitment to raising the overall development profile of the Niger Delta Region, establishing the blueprint for future administrations of the Commission. He has remained one of the most consistent pillars of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and has always maintained that political power would be meaningless if not invested in boosting human welfare and sustainable development across boundaries.”
Chief Ahiwe, while wishing Chief Ugochukwu a joyful birthday anniversary, prayed that God would continue to bless him with robust health and grant him many more glorious years of excellent service to humanity.
