As the Igbo leaders round off the 2023 Southeast Economic and Security Summit and Igbo Day Celebration in Owerri and Enugu respectively, Bishop Dr Emeka Nwankpa, one of the most prominent Igbo sons, has congratulated the leaders of the Igboland on the successful hosting of the events.

The revered cleric and thought leader described the hosting of the two events as coming at the right time, saying that as a proud Igbo son, he believes that the region has the potential to set the pace in economic growth and development in Nigeria.

While saluting the Igbo sons and daughters for their industry and never-say-die attitude, he called for peace in the region, and described peace as the most veritable tool for growth and development, and regretted the security challenge currently being experienced in the region.

Recalling the sterling achievements of Dr Michael Okpara, Dr Akanu Ibiam, Dee Sam Mbakwe and other founding fathers, he challenged the present crop of Igbo leaders to write their names in gold by harnessing the abundant potential in the region to make the envy of other regions. The cleric prayed to the Almighty God to continue to bless the region and to restore His glory to the region
