1. On 22/06/2026, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, South East Zone, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, psc, fwc, MNIM, fdc, held a strategic stakeholders engagement in Abia State, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to strengthen community partnership.
2. The meeting brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, security stakeholders, and representatives from various sectors to promote collaboration in addressing security challenges in the state.The engagement was focused on four key areas, which are: listening to community concerns, fostering collaboration, preventing crime, and building trust between the Police and the public.

3. The DIG, in his address, highlighted major security concerns in the State, including youth violence in Aba, armed robbery, domestic violence, and cult-related activities, more accurately described as manifestations of organized youth gang violence, stressing the need for early-warning systems and stronger community involvement. Stakeholders were urged to support the Police through timely information sharing, dispute resolution, youth mentorship, and lawful collaboration with vigilante groups.
4. The DIG, noting that security is a shared responsibility, reaffirmed the commitment of the Police to improved intelligence gathering, faster response, professionalism, and sustained community engagement, emphasizing that through continuous partnership, mutual trust, and collective vigilance lasting peace and security can be achieved in Abia State.
