The newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Abia State Police Command, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, has charged officers and men of the Command to maintain professional standards in the discharge of their duties, in line with extant laws, and renew their commitment to combating crime in the State.

CP Onwuemelie who gave the charge while addressing top officers and the media at the State Command headquarters, Umuahia on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 shortly after taking over from the immediate past Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mustapha Mohammed Bala, emphasized that as public servants, police personnel must serve with integrity and civility, abiding by the laws establishing the Police and the rules of engagement according to their training.

He assured that the Abia State Police Command under his watch would work with all stakeholders in the State including sister security agencies, government agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth organizations, professional bodies as well as the media to sustain and upscale the status of peace and security in the State.

He thanked everyone for the warm welcome accorded him and extended a hand of fellowship to all Abians to act as partners in the crucial role of the Police to maintain peace and security in the State.
