Dear Strategic Leader, today, we talk about the imperative for starting a journey no matter how long you think it will take you to finish it or how old you think you are.
Over the weekend, as Keynote Speaker at the International Youth Day 2022 at Aba, I reminded the audience that the last time I spoke at IYD was 5 years ago in 2017 and listed some things I’ve done in the last 5 years.
In the last 5 years, to the glory of God,among other things, I have acquired a Masters Degree in Environmental Law, Started my Ph.D in Climate Change, become a Fellow of Acumen Academy, attended the Bloxhub School of Urban Resilience, Copenhagen, Denmark, picked a Certificate from Malmö University, Sweden, obtained my PMP, underwent studies and passed my professional exams to become a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Chattered Arbitrators, went to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and just returned from the United States of America as participant in the International Visitor Leadership Program.
I gave example of a friend who we tried to convince 5 years ago to go to the University and study a course he loves and he said he was too old for that. Five years have come and gone and he is still lamenting not studying that course whereas if he had started 5 years ago, he would have been rounding up by now.
Time will never wait for you to be ready. The years are going by whether you take critical steps or not. Do not be a candidate for regret and had I known. Whatever you have purposed in your heart to do, take a step of faith and just do it. The universe will align for you.
Nobody sees the top of the stairs when they start climbing. They start in faith that the staircase will lead them to the top.
Dear Strategic Leader, purpose today that you will take that first step towards bettering yourself and equipping yourself for the journey of life. It’s never too late.
Just Do It!
