The Abia State PDP 2023 governorship candidate, Sir Okey Ahiwe has condoled with the Bishop of Aba Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Professor Augustine Ndubueze Echema, the Religious, Laity and Families of those who lost their lives in the stampede that occurred during a procession marking the Feast of Christ the King on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Sir Ahiwe who described the incident as “most unfortunate”, empathized with families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries, encouraging them to keep their faith in God whose love remains constant even in painful situations.
According to him, “While I commiserate with my Bishop, Most Reverend Professor Augustine Echema, the Aba Catholic Diocese and all those directly and indirectly affected by the unfortunate incident, we should always endeavour to remain faithful in God notwithstanding the outcome of a situation, because we have an example in Christ that God’s love does not conflict with His purpose. As we all know, even in deep pains, our Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled God’s purpose and declared His unfailing love for mankind.”
Sir Ahiwe commended the Bishop for his prompt response to the incident and his commitment to establishing measures towards ensuring that such an occurrence would never repeat. He prayed that God would grant the souls of the faithful departed eternal rest.
