Members of the Ipu Indigenous Workers Union, under the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ukwa West Chapter, have pledged their support for Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, Esq., ahead of the 2027 general election.
The union made the commitment on Saturday when its members and officials from across the Ipu clan paid a solidarity visit to Chief Nwogu at his “Villa of Destiny” in Owaza, following his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency.
The visit featured goodwill messages, congratulatory remarks and an interactive session during which the workers expressed confidence in Nwogu’s candidacy and pledged to support his election bid.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Chairman of the union, Comrade Monday Azu, said the visit was specifically organised to celebrate Nwogu’s emergence from the APC primary election.
Azu described the development as a victory for both Nwogu and the people of Ukwa, assuring him of the union’s loyalty and support as he prepares for the 2027 election.
Also speaking, a member of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of NULGE, Ukwa West Chapter, Comrade Jeff Ikocha, commended Nwogu’s record of public service and described his antecedents as evidence well-deserving of the people’s trust.
Ikocha reaffirmed the union’s readiness to mobilise support for Nwogu across the federal constituency.
Responding, Chief Nwogu thanked the Ipu Indigenous Workers Union for identifying with him and pledged to intensify his engagement with the grassroots in the months ahead.
He said he would personally take his campaign message to the people and explain his achievements, plans and vision for the constituency.
The APC candidate also assured the union that, if elected in 2027, he would remain accountable and accessible to workers and indigenes across the constituency.
“If God gives us the mandate, I will not disappoint you,” Nwogu said, while pledging to uphold his responsibilities to the people.
His remarks were greeted with applause from members of the gathering, who expressed optimism about his candidacy.
The high point of the visit was a session of songs of praise and prayers for Nwogu, with members asking for divine guidance, strength and victory for him at the polls.
The event ended with renewed expressions of unity and optimism, as union leaders pledged to collaborate with other stakeholders across Ukwa East/West to mobilise support for the APC candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
