The city of Umuahia, Abia State capital buzzed with excitement on Sunday March 31, 2024 as JC Thistle International Limited and Zuidam Distillers stormed the town for the unveiling of its unique brands of alcoholic beverages fast gaining massive popularity for their premium standards.
The event which ran from early evening till dawn, drawing a stadium-capacity crowd, took place at the exquisite De Latinos Nite Club and featured a live performance by Nigeria’s raving music star, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable.
The drinks unveiled included Oude Genever, Millstone (Dutch Single Malt Whisky), Velvet Dream (Cream Liqueur) and Honey-Whisky Liqueur, all produced to global best standards by Zuidam Distillers.
In a chat with the media shortly before the event commenced, Marketing Director of JC Thistle International Limited, marketers of the drinks, High Chief Temple Ugwuzor, said, “Our main objective in introducing these premium brands to the Nigerian market is simply to add superior values to the alcoholic beverage sub-sector and provide Nigerians with a wider variety of choices and tastes at very competitive rates. These drinks have been distilled and refined over time and our large volume of sales since we introduced them indicate peoples’ preference to premium quality.”
Speaking further, he said that in line with his company’s corporate social responsibility policy, the drinks shall be used to promote entertainment events, cultural fiestas and related initiatives across the country.
On his part, the CEO of De Latinos Concepts Limited reputed to be the prime entertainment hub in Umuahia, Mr. Emmanuel Okenini (E-Bello), expressed delight about the event, which he believed could lead to bigger collaborations in the future.
Inside the Club, Portable charged up the atmosphere with his scintillating performance and kept fans on their feet till late hours of the morning. Someone described as ‘positive commotion’. He was almost held hostage at the end as fans swarmed around him asking for more and chanting ‘Zazu’.
In a random opinion poll conducted by newsmen after the event, people expressed satisfaction and commended JC Thistle International Limited and Zuidam Distillers for hosting the event in Umuahia, introducing the drinks to them and adding a special flavour to their Easter weekend.
