The Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) has described the recent deaths of nearly 2 dozen Migrants who were attempting to break through a border fence between Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Mellila as ‘ horrifying and unacceptable’

While expressing deep regret at the deaths and the injuries of the several migrants, PAWA alligned itself with the statements of the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN) among other International Organizations that have called for an immediate independent and transparent investigation into the matter.

As an Association in the fore front of human rights advocacy, PAWA calls on the Moroccan and Spanish authorities to properly investigate the incident and bring the culprits involved to book in order to forestall future occurrences of the dastardly incident.

The Pan African Writers Association also urges countries to engage in less forcefull methods of control in the management of cases of illegal migrations which have unfortunately become rampant consequent to the current distortions in the global economy and communality.
