The State Chairman of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria(OMPAN) Abia State Chapter Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro has declared that the Association and its members are neither stooges of government nor attack dogs of opposition political parties.
In a Statement released on Monday in Umuahia, the State Chairman of OMPAN said that as members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm, OMPAN believes in impartiality and fairness to all in every material circumstance.
“Most stories have at least two sides. While there is no obligation to present every side in every piece, stories should be balanced, and in our attempt to balance it, nobody should see us as stooges or attacks dogs”
“We are independent voices in OMPAN. We cannot act, formally or informally, on behalf of any special interests. Whether political, corporate or cultural, everyone will be given the opportunity to tell their stories”
The Chairman dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the Association is now a stooge in the hands of the present Administration in Abia State and tagged it an ‘opposition blackmail’.
He emphasized that under his watch, members of the Association will continue to build solid relationships accross board and contribute their quota to the development of Abia.
