Abia State PDP Governorship Aspirant in the 2023 general elections, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu) has applauded the resilience and tenacity of Abians in the face of challenging economic environments.
Mayor Igbokwe stated this in his 2024 Democracy Day message made available to the media.
He emphasized that despite the challenges of Nigeria’s nascent democratic experience, Democracy as a system of government remains the ony system that guarantees people’s rights and welfare.
The full text of the message reads:
“As we mark this year’s democracy day, it is pertinent to applaud the tenacity, resilience and bravery of Abians and Nigerians in sustaining our nasceant democracy
“Suffice it to admit that we are not where we ought to be, but we are better off for it today as a nation and a state.
“irrespective of the the economic and social challenges we are facing as a nation, Democracy remains the only system of government that guarrantees freedom of association and expression, fairness and justice and I am confident that we will surmount our economic challenges and come out a better, bigger and stronger nation
“Under the current Democratic journey which started in the year 1999, we have made tremendous progress in governance at all levels and my wish and the wish of every patriotic Nigerian is that we keep improving on our electoral and governance systems as that is the only sure path to advance our democracy
“I encourage us as citizens to remain loyal, patriotic and law abiding while urging the government to place the people above every other consideration
“long Live Abia State, Long Live The Federal Republic of Nigeria”
