The Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Anambra State Chapter, Chief Obiajulu Peter Edochie has endorsed the South East Creative Economy Summit billed to hold in Umuahia, Abia State from 19th to 20th November, 2024.
Chief Edochie, who is also the South East Coordinator of Abuja International Carnival and founder of Igbo Ebuka Cultural Festival, gave the endorsement during his recent visit to the Summit Secretariat in Umuahia where he held a meeting with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Summit.
In a chat with newsmen after his meeting with the LOC, Chief Edochie expressed satisfaction about the level of preparation to host the event and called on all stakeholders to lend their support to make the Summit a huge success.
In his words, “I am very delighted that this Summit is being organized for the very first time in the history of the South East. The theme of the Summit, centered on intellectual property, makes it even more special. The Summit would not only expose creative industry practitioners in this part of the country to various dimensions of intellectual property, but it would also help us to network, build synergies and strengthen our bond of unity as professionals. NANTAP is inclined to supporting this kind of initiative. So on behalf of my State Chapter, I am endorsing the Summit without reservations and I will help mobilize support across the South East to make it a remarkable success.”
Speaking earlier, the Summit Coordinator and CEO of Ojemba Media and Entertainment Limited, Mr. Victor Nwokocha said that the Summit is themed ‘Intellectual Property, Entertainment Technology and Wealth Creation: Imperatives for Enhancing the South East Creative Economy’. He emphasized that the Summit is not a mere talk shop but a serious capacity building program bringing very renowned experts as facilitators.
He further explained that the Summit is not only focused on creative industry practitioners but also on commercial users of copyright content, to enlighten them on the imperatives of intellectual property rights protection as a pillar of sustainable economic growth.
On his part, the Summit Director of Programs, Mr. Peterson Agu remarked that the Summit is also devised as a congress of creative industry practitioners to seek ways to enhance the organizational structure of the South East Creative Industry, and evolve data-based blueprint to aid planning, investment, regulation and performance audit following statutory protocols at the national and sub-national levels.
Mr. Agu called on government agencies at the Federal and State levels, corporate organizations and well-meaning individuals across the South East to support the Summit which he said would encourage creative youth engagement, strengthen the region’s economy, promote peace and consolidate the Federal Government’s efforts towards building a robust non-oil economy.
