On this date, nearly six decades ago, humanity was blessed with a rare mortal who, in later years, has proven to be a quintessential pillar of humanism.
He may have become known by the many values he represents.
But his life fundamentally challenges us to ensure that before we become anything else – Ngwa, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Christian, Muslim, Black, White, Rich or Poor – we should essentially become and remain human.
Embracing the challenges of service and leadership, responding to the complexities, diversities and dynamics of human nature, he has risen far beyond any considerations that may threaten his abiding faith in practical humanism as the anchor point for piety and a pathway to the ultimate apotheosis.
So, today, I am proud to celebrate not just a significant date in the earthly sojourn of a towering humanist, but a milestone in his apostolic quest for universal freedom for the human family.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SIR OKECHUKWU AMBROSE AHIWE!
May God continue to shower you with abundant blessings and bless humanity with more servants of your kind.
CONGRATULATIONS AND MORE GLORIOUS YEARS AHEAD, SIR!
